Search
at Different Times
A great way to find how your keywords are operating is to conduct
searches at different times of the day.
As search engines switch datacenters over at
different times of the day for localized timelines, maintenance
switch over's or for bandwidth reasons, you can get up early, stay
up late or work for a couple of hours in the middle of the night to
conduct searches on a keyword that relate to your domain.
What does this do?
By searching at different times throughout the day
or night, through different days and even on weekends, you can
quickly learn see different aspects of how time affects your
keywords and overall site listing. This is a great technique for
expanding your global presence.
1. Look for sites that appear under the first two
pages of results, look at their domain extension or country base.
You may notice a heavier UK or USA influence, an AU result or other
domain extension related to your language tag. The language tag is a
very important factor that helps immensely.

2. Other engines and sites wherein you can list
your site. At different times of the day and the week, your search
will return different country sites. Perform a search within your
category and add the words Add URL to the string. Many times, a site
that you have searched deeply for will appear at night or early
morning during a datacenter switch. Once you find a domain that you
can index your site in, add it and keep searching. There will be
others.

3. Other titles and Descriptions. When you perform
a little research at different times of the day and view the results
of different datacenters, you can quickly examine the different
titles and descriptions returned. If your site is a close match for
the topics, return to your own site and work harder on the title
tags. Through this site and many others listed on the web there are
plenty of article highlighting the importance of Page Titles. Also,
open a page and look at their
use of bold and headline texts. These may be the difference
between your site and theirs.
4. Hidden queries. A great technique for
optimizing your own domain or sub web is to look at the way other
influencing hidden queries may have helped the 'overnight'
datacenters examine and return a different result. Hidden queries
are links from other site that add power to the page returned in the
search results. These
hidden queries are a make up of hypertext links written with
words, a page title from another referring page or possibly the
topic in discussion spidering. When you look at why another page is
returning a high position, always open the site and then dig deeper
into the 'research' side of incoming links to that page.
5. Look for Pre and Post keyword associations.
When you are looking through the returned results in the display
pages, look carefully at the pre and post keyword and how the
sentence is structured. This is invaluable for overall SEO work. By
doing this at different times, your search engine optimization of
time positions will give you fantastic leads and avenues you may not
have thought of.
6. Write it down. (via computer) Open the
accessory program called 'Notepad' or 'WordPad' or any other plain
text program, word processor or similar.
Using your mouse, highlight over the optimized page titles and
descriptions and paste in your doc. Don't plagiarize, but do use
that knowledge for your own page titles.
7. Look at how the page is themed. From top to
bottom is the optimal way to optimize a web site page. This changes
from location to location. If you find a page from Canada, compare
the topic with a page from New Zealand or Fiji etc. The web is
global, look globally.
Tips: Look at the content
of the page and the overall text use, picture applications and there
are any special attributes. If you discover a particularly useful
idea, implement your version into your site.
