Trade tem Edge BleedEdge Bleed is a term that means color is applied to full extreme edges of the sign material. Careful artwork is required when any sign project has an artwork image that requires a colored background. In general sign panels are cut to size before screen printing. When a full color is required to 'run' off the edges, panels are ordered oversize, screen printed then re-cut or manufactured to accurate finish size. Edge Bleed signs incur a minimum additional material cost.

Trade Term:
Trade Term Print ResolutionPrint Bed:  Careful attention must be placed on this trade term.  Print Bed relates to the maximum or suitable screen printing machinery size capability. Example: QuickSmart may choose a screen production machine set at a maximum size of 300mm x 400mm for decals if there is only 1 or 2 colors for the sign project. We may choose a Print Bed of 1500mm x 980mm to produce Flexible PVC banners suited to a fast food family restaurant chain.
Print Bed choice is a careful gain of industry experience and customer project evaluation.
Committed to saving the client monies, QuickSmart can choose from over 5 different Print Bed sizes.
ALSO: Our unique Artwork Nesting capabilities mean that signage projects can be maximized onto larger Print Beds which ensures clients save productions costs. Artwork charges may increase slightly however total sign costs may be reduced.

 

Screen Printing Basics - Spot Colors 

Spot Colors are specific colors used by your business in all your signage, printing, web and other business communications.  Example, A QuickSmart Signs uses Pantone Orange and Pantone Black as our corporate color scheme. 

The image used below is specific to the petroleum industry and used a spot color know as Pantone Reflex Blue.

Please note that when choosing a spot color, select a unique 'but' relevant color that can be used by your company in web applications, general printing, outdoor signage, uniforms and vehicle signs and so on.

Above: The screen printed image above shows a single spot color representation of a multiple set up decal. Decals and other signage can be 'over printed' with protective coatings such as 'anti graffiti'.

Artwork Nesting

QuickSmart modern artwork systems give clients maximum value. We can 'nest' multiple images to save your production costs. QuickSmart will recommend the better production size calculating factors such as cost, quantity, size and over print or multiple print combinations.  Please ask our productions staff for advice.

From the image above, you can see this decal is an 'over bleed' decal. After printing and drying (curing) the master decal sheet is individually trimmed (guillotined) to suit exact size. This flexibility by QuickSmart means greater production speed, greater cost control and importantly uniform and evenly spread quality.

Sending Artwork Files

Please send all artwork files in original format as they were created. This will give you greater nesting capability, Print bed choice, print speed choice and importantly, better output quality.

HIPS High Impact Polystyrene HIPS - High Impact Polystyrene
HIPS is well suited for product displays, promotional tags and other indoor uses.  The material can be folded using a heated element that softens the material allowing a 90° fold or similar shape.  HIPS can be form cut to shapes and layouts.

HIPS can also be used for pelmet signage, internal product panels and display boards.

Acrylic Sign Acrylic - Various thickness
Acrylic panels can be screen printed for internal and external signage programs. Generally, Acrylic is pre cut to size which means careful artwork choice is recommended should the client requires color that reaches the edge border.
Acrylic can be folded, laser cut or utilise a combination of production methods such as vinyl, engraving, laser lettering or other to provide a truly unique sign.

Banner Sign PVC Vinyl Banner - Flexible banners
Vinyl Banners are excellent choices for outdoor signage and indoor promotional signs. Flexible, they can be rolled and stored in minimum storage and reused.
Promotional value is high. Cost is very cheap.
PVC Vinyl Banners can also be digitally printed with excellent results. (see Ezine)
